Rivet (almost) water proof jacket

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by leftleg, Feb 22, 2005.

  1. Noticed a few leaks in my jacket recently. Possibly fatigue in the seams. The jacket is 3 years old and has done over 50,000 kms in all conditions. Is there an effective water proof sealer, or is it time for a new jacket?

  2. Being too lazy to click on Jason's link let me add my personal fav -> Silicon spray. Can be bought from camping stores and really works well. Covered my dririder, ex's rivet and my ventura bag in the spray and never had a problem after that. Plus, it costs sweet FA and is easy as pie to use and reapply (not that I have had to). Used it over 2 years ago and it still hasn't worn off.
  3. I'm with Deyago there, go the silicone. I bought a can of Selleys spray from Big W for a few bucks, works a treat on the boots and backpack.
  4. Thanks for the info guys. Silicone spray it is!
  5. Duct tape along the inside of the seam can help.
