resizing a photo for avatar? help anyone?

Discussion in 'The Pub' at netrider.net.au started by deedee, Apr 13, 2009.

  1. i need to resize a photo to upload as my avatar.
google isnt being very dee friendly today
so im hoping someone here can hook me up with a link or something

  2. dee you could always load the photo into "paint" and use "Stretch/Skew" off the "Image" tab at the top. It'll reduce size easily for an avatar capable shot then just save as a jpg and you're done
  3. i done the paintshop one.. but still it was 330 kb
  4. Save it as a .gif
  5. email it to me.

My address is vic at zoomantics com au
  6. you might want to reduce the colour depth as well if filesize is still a problem after you have reduced the image size. You be surprised how little the image quality difference is between 16 million colours and just 256 colours but a big difference in file size.
  7. flatten the image in photoshop, too
    layers can balloon filesizes
  8. If your Using Windows XP, download the windows Image resizer power tool from windows update. I believe there is one for vista as well.
