Removing xv250's fuel tank

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by thecptn, Oct 16, 2005.

  1. Found out today that the rust gnomes started a small surface collony in the insides of my fuel tank, how ever having no motorcycle mechanical experience, other than car mechanical knowledge, is it easy to remove? I just noticed 4 bolts and pipes leading to the fuel tap, I want to use those fuel tank repair kits that you can get, so id realy apreaciate any help with it.

  2. probly worth (downloading) buying a workshop manual
  3. I have a thing I downloaded from somewhere that says Yamaha Service Manual, is this a "workshop manual"?

Also was looking at replacing the tube that goes from the carby to the cylinders (the Y shaped thing) and it looks like I'll have to remove the fuel tank and seat. I would assume that I need to drain the tank first? What's the best way to drain the tank?
