removing intercom mount from helmet - any tips?

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by trd2000, Feb 1, 2013.

  1. it's time to update my intercom but interphone have changed the shape of the mount... so i have to get the old one off my helmet and it's stuck with 3M backing tape... like many mounts are these days.

someone suggetsed a hairdryer but i can't see the heat being great for my helmet. likewise solvents.

has anyone else removed a mounting from their helmet and what worked for you/?

  2. I'm interested in this too.

Apparently some product called orange oil or something like that is good. Heat is good - you don't have to have a lot of heat either, but you're left with a residue.
  3. Easiest is a pioece of fishing line to cut it off then WD -40 to remove the rsidue.
Best bet is to spray on and leave for 5 minutes or so, then rub it off, spraying again f you need to ;).
Cleans oil and grease off well too
