Remembering Kenny - 28 years on.

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' started by rc36, Jun 6, 2009.

  1. This Tuesday, the 9th of June, marks the 28th anniversary of the death of one of Australia's most beloved motorcycle road racers, Kenny Blake. Ken was killed in an accident during the Senior TT on the Isle of Man.

His death was a massive blow to the motorcycling community and to his many friends and acquaintances.

I know that friends of Kenny usually gather in a hotel in Melbourne somewhere to commemorate his life and death, though I can't remember which one it is. I am hoping that someone here will remember and be able to add the details to this thread so that anybody who wants to attend may do so.

Jim Scaysbrook did a wonderful article on Kenny in issue #2 of Old Bikes Australia, it may still be available on back-order.

For those who want to explore the subject more, can I direct you to my memorial web site, www.halltech.com.au/kennyb Please note that the email address on the front page is incorrect. If you do wish to contact me about Ken, please PM me and I'll give you my current email address.

Farewell, Kenny, you are not forgotten.
  2. I'll find out tomorrow. Greg Johnsom always goes to this.
  3. Thanks. Appreciate that.
  4. I am pretty sure that Graeme "gyro" Carless is an organizer.
  5. Well, Kenny rode a lot for Gyro and Greg does now, so it makes sense.
  6. News of the death of 'our Kenny' was as big a blow as the news of the death of Jim Clark; we couldn't believe that such a 'complete' rider, and such a lovely bloke, could have been taken away from us, and 12,000 miles away.
  7. Greg and KB were mates. He always goes to this.
  8. Thanks for the link

Great site, congrats on remembering one of our best riders.

And only just realised who's ya brother

    Cheerio Alex
  9. Hi Alex
  10. And ya even sharing the same Avatar :p
  11. he hasn't changed a bit.
  12. and you would be.... ???
  13. yawn

is there any chance that this forum can attract some NORMAL people?
  14. There is no need for this bullshit.

Let KB rest in peace, all of yez.
  15. +100000000000000

You want to argue or score points, do it somewhere else. A bit of respect, please.
  16. Respect for all forum users is required.

Respect for the late Ken Blake is mandatory.
  17. After reading what you have said in your previous posts I am reluctant to expose my identity.....suffice to say that Kenny Blake was a rider gifted with talent and I enjoyed beating him.....He had no problem with that.

Ken was far too decent and straight a bloke to have an annonymous coward like you as a friend. Either identify yourself and provide some proof to your claims, or go away.
  18. how do you think that I feel, Dougal?

Having a quiet spew, at the moment. Peas and carrots for everyone.
  19. Any chance of getting a mod to purge the garbage out of this thread and leave the important stuff. I wish I'd never posted it up to start with now.
