Red X's - Images arent loading

Discussion in 'The Pub' at netrider.net.au started by davway, Dec 28, 2008.

  1. seem to be getting a lot of these lately from almost everywhere on the net i go:
i know its a simple fix, but i cant put my finger on it.
anyone able to help fix the problem.
    running XP if that helps.
its only started recently in the last 2 weeks.
have done a virus scan and a clean.
not sure if its a Java issue or a setting on something else has been turned off.

  2. If in doubt, the first thing I do when I run into a browser problem is clear my cookies. If your using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, and click Delete Cookies (that's for IE 6, it's slightly different for IE 7). If that doesn't work you can reset web settings from the Tools menu.
  3. clear cookies and temp files.
also ran ccleaner but still getting red X's everywhere.
anyone - its really getting annoying.
  4. Does it occur in alternative web browsers to your normal choice as well?
  5. There is an explorer update because of some typical winblows virus. Have you tried Firefox?
  6. seems to be an IE thing as Mozilla has no problems at all.
for example, on Netrider, everything on this page is fine except for the 3 red X's to the left which should be:
    RSS News
    RSS Calender
    RSS Forums
  7. Oh well, best to do the Windows standard shuffle then.

    Windows Updates.
Anti Virus Scan (In Safe Mode)
Anti Spyware Scan. Spybot is free if you don't have an anti virus package that also has Spyware scanning.

Good Luck, And Happy New Year. :)
