Rear brake issue - new master cylinder?

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by Simple One, Mar 22, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

I lost the rear brake pedal on my DRZ, so I've bled it which has helped, but i noticed that when i depress the pedal (during the bleeding process) it was spurting fluid back up into the reservoir as i depressed it (even once all the air was apparently out of the system, this continued and the pedal had a lot more travel in it than it used to i think).

Does this mean that there is fluid bypassing the piston, meaning that it needs replacing or rebuilding?
