Really Irritating noise from bike

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by GreenNinja, Jan 22, 2007.

  1. Hey,

I've recently noticed a noise coming from somewhere near the engine or the exhaust manifold (if thats what u call it on a bike).

The noise only occurs at certain revs 2000 rpm to 3000rpm and also from 6000rpm to 7500rpm.

its killing the enjoyment of riding, its a loud taping noise.

what could it be and does it sound expensive to fix?
  2. i cant hear anything

could be an exhaust leak, exhaust valve, loose flange...etc.

get it checked by your GP :p

edit - it only happens during a certain rev-range, perhaps the gasket/copper ring inside where your headers connect to your motor have deteriorated, causing a resonant rattle in your headers?!?!?! just a though..... check for loose nuts etc :)
  3. Girlfriend on the back, slapping your helmet?

It's happened to me before. She felt we were taking the corner too fast.
  4. yeah a loose nut or washer might be it.
  5. there's another noise, this one is more like a clicking sound coming from just above the handle bars on the right side. :?
