rattling noise gsx250f

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by ben1, Aug 3, 2009.

  1. hey guys / girls,

just have a question regarding a rattling noise on my gsx250f, it only seems to be there when i down-shift to a lower gear when the engine breaking is involved, it sounds as if there is some thing loose in there and its vibrating around.

any ideas what this might be? gear-box etc..

  2. Check your chain tension.

My bike often induces a laughing sound

  3. sounds like its the automatic cam chain tensioner that's sticking, simple fix, just get a new one and replace it.

It costs about $110 and get a new gasket as well.

Its located underneath your carbies and sticks out like a sore thumb, should take you about one to two hours to do depending on how mechanically minded you are.
