R1 not Charging

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by bassman30, Aug 25, 2008.

  1. Hi guys,

I was out on my bike last week, lost all power to dash and the bike died and would not start. The multi plug was burnt out. I have now got a new multi plug. The guy who I got it from has told me just to cut off the black wire on the multi plug. I don't want to do this until I know for sure this will be ok. Can anyone assist me??

  2. Hi Bassman30,

A burnt out connector is a sign of something more serious. Usually a fuse should blow to protect wiring rather than burning the wiring/plug itself. If you have the owners manual they generally give you a poor but readable wiring diagram for the bike? Can you work out what the wire does/where it goes?

IMHO: just replacing the plug may just end up in the same situation in a couple of hours of riding if short exists in the wiring.
