questions for pollies

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' at netrider.net.au started by twistngo, May 10, 2010.

  1. In the UK just before the election MCN asked the three parties a series of questions on motorcycling:
Why should motorcyclists vote for you?
    Should motorcycling be encouraged?
How would you improve bike safety?
What can you do to get us in bus lanes?
Should free bike parking be protected?
Are bikes too fast or powerful?
    Road pricing?
    Speed limits?
    More speed cameras?
Wondering if we could come up with a series of similar questions and maybe the MRA could approach the pollies before the next election, which is soon in Vic at least?

edit. should add, labour scored 2, the conservatives 7 and lib/dem's 4.

  3. can we make this a sticky for the sake of that poll?
  4. So what was the driteria to score any points?
  5. It was on whether MCN assessed the answer as biker friendly as not. They did print the answers as well.
  6. Hi guys,

we used the information in our meeting with the Minister for Roads and Ports.

  7. Thanks for the feedback.
  8. I like this
  9. Thanks for the update Wolve and well done on the meeting
  10. It's interesting that 'legal filtering + intersection boxes' is the clear leader, when 'Able to use bus lanes' is an option. IMHO the latter contributes vastly more to rider safety than the former.
  11. Why wasn't increasing the speed limits a question as motorcyclists are overrepresented in the speed enforcement/revenue department?

Clearly by the topics on this forum large fines and licence loss arising from inappropriate low speed limits are very big issues.

    An oversight?
  12. There are more places to filter than there are bus lanes.
  13. Questions were added based on feedback, the speed one didn't come up until after.
  14. That is taking a step in the right direction zeddicus, and that is, to remove us as much as possible, from the flow of traffic.
