QLD: Lane splitting crackdown on the Western Freeway

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' started by demuire, Sep 22, 2006.

  1. I heard through the grapevine that they had a lane splitting crackdown on the Western Freeway this morning, apparently quite a few bikes got pulled over... :(

So beware if you're a splitter!

  2. Was it definitely splitting or was it using the emergency lane?

A couple of times here I've heard about crackdowns on splitting and filtering but almost invariably it's been people using the emergency lane that have been the ones in trouble.

In one instance on the Tullamarine Freeway (near the Calder intersection) they actually asked the rider concerned why he wasn't "properly" filtering through the stopped traffic instead of riding up the emergency lane. (Mind you they never suggested that they wouldn't still have booked him for it though)
  3. Apparently they were targetting both. From what I hear they had someone on the overhead bridge with a radio...
