Protecting cheap chrome

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by mattb, Mar 24, 2011.

  1. G'day All.

I find with cheap chromed items that they rust pretty quickly. I'm about to get some more items; what can I do in advance to protect them? Paint them in a clear gloss? Patb, I took the liberty of quoting you from another thread - perhaps there are communists in the seminary and the corruption is inescapable?

  2. Give them a coat of good quality carnauba wax, and re-apply regularly.
  3. iirc I read somewhere to spray chrome with a silicon spray
  4. get them chromed properly

They will fail eventually, and thin chrome just looks... well... cheap(ish).

  5. I'm a tight-arse - I'd rather paint them black! :)
