Power Commander III USB help ?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by Removed_User_5, Aug 25, 2006.

  1. Anybody know how to use one of these ?
i got one on my VFR and it has a USB plug so I downloaded all the software and maps and stuff but have no idea what it means.
I knwo it van tune the rev range and stuff On different throttle position but dont want to tinker incase I screw it up, but would love to know what it means.

So if anyone fancies a free lunch then let me know.

Stookie ( a happy new bike boy )

  2. Give Ben @ Redwing Honda a call on 9459 5553, he is their tuning specialist and may be able to assist.

  3. The main reason you'd buy a Power Commander would be to tune a fuel injected bike to suit the new back-pressure and engine characteristics caused by the addition of an aftermarket exhaust.

You can achieve a smoother power delivery, better economy, better air-fuel mix and some power gains through careful, knowledgeable tuning.

Chances are yours has already been set up for the cans the bike has got on it. Unless you're prepared to fork out for a proper dyno tune at a dynojet facility, you're more likely to stuff up that mapping than anything else.

  4. That's why Tuneboy rocks :D Too bad it isn't suitable for many bikes though
  5. Loz is spot on. If the bike already has a custom map for your bike (every engine is slightly different even before you throw on an exhaust) then you should be right. But then again the custom map might be setup for max HP, or max Torque or even Max economy or a balance of all three. All depends......

Is there anyway you can ask the previous owner? No point in spending a couple hundred bucks if its already doing what you want.

  6. Cant get info from previous owner as it was through a bike seller.
Was just curious as to understand what the software means and how to use it.

If its got it installed and its running fine, which it is, I was just more interested in somebody with some knowlege having a look and showing me how it works ? there isnt a problem I just like to know how stuff works.
