Postie practical test

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by djay, May 23, 2011.

  1. Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this - it doesn't quite seem to fit anywhere else...

Does anyone know what the practical test for a motorcycle postie job is?
  2. HART do it. And there is no pass or fail. Well unless you are really really bad.
The bike is loaded with the bags Usually two phone books in each bag to replicate the weight of the mail.
In the yard we have you run through cones...slalom like.
We get you to ride at us and change down the gears to a stop.
We get you to ride along and lock the front wheel and release in gravel.
We get you to ride along and stop and pretend to put mail in a box and take off again.
We get you to ride up a steep slope and stop, pretend to put mail in the box and two point turn down the hill again. Two point as in roll back and half turn and then take off and turn the rest of the way so you ride down facing the right way.
Then we take you out on the road. No real stopping just cruising around. We take you up and down a few gutters and each takes a turn riding point.
It really is nothing and a lot less than doing Qride. No figure eights or emergency braking.
As I said there is no fail or pass. If you are having trouble they take you aside and work it out with you.
All in all a pretty fun day.
