Pitpro Sx 250 Engine Rattle (valve Chatter?)

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by jazzyman9182, Nov 13, 2012.

  1. Hey guys i need some help figuring out a problem with my bike. It has made this rattle ever since we got the bike. Its getting really annoying and it doesn't sound right. The bike hasn't had that much use since we got it but i'll be riding it more this summer. I have linked a video i took of it yesterday. Just looking to see if anyone can offer advice on what i could do, otherwise ill just have to put up with it.

Been reading some threads and think it might be the valve clearances are wrong, but not sure.

    Thanks - Jarrod

Loose valve clearances ( clearances larger than spec )
low oil level / incorrect (thin) grade of oil / high oil temperature
lack of lubrication to the top end ( low oil pressure / faulty oil pump....)
I could be wrong...it is china thumper after all
  3. Thanks for the reply,

You get what you pay for haha.

I'm thinking when they made the bike they didn't set the clearances right.
Its getting oil up in the valves so I don't thinks its that and we've used the oil in multiple engines so I don't think its that either.
  4. So undo the tappet covers and check the clearances...
