Personality types

Discussion in 'The Pub' at netrider.net.au started by Dan.adl, Sep 24, 2012.

  1. Anyone here done a Myers Briggs personality test?
    What is your result?
I scored an INTJ, it answers quite a lot of questions and makes sense regarding personal strengths and weaknesses.

  2. Whatever I want it to be. :)

These sorts of tests are pretty easy to f*&k with if you know how they work. I studied them when I was at Uni and used to have very little difficulty getting whatever personality type I was aiming for (even with validity/reliability checks). I don't think a category exists for my actual personality .

My old man used to conduct these tests as part of his job, and used to do the same thing when it was his turn to be tested by head office. He managed 5 completely different personalities in 5 years before they got the point and gave up testing people as part of their annual review.

  3. I've done a version of the test and come out as INTJ as well, although only N and T were particularly strong (iNtuition and Thinking), whereas I (Introvert) and J (Judging) were only slight to moderate.

Not sure how valid the test was, since all the questions had only two possible choices, whereas I sometimes found myself wanting to go somewhere in the middle, but it was interesting.

Online version of the test here if anyone's interested: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

    EDIT: My results

    It must be pretty good.

I clicked on the career oppurtunities and the second option was natural scientist, which is what I'm doing.

  8. I found the "I" part of mine interesting. I always thought "introvert" meant shy/quiet, and nobody who knows me would describe me as that, so I looked it up. Turns out, "introvert" doesn't mean that at all.

"Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness and anxiety, and while an introvert may also be shy, introversion itself is not shyness. Basically, an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around other people."

    From http://giftedkids.about.com/od/glossary/g/introvert.htm

Yep, sounds about right. Interacting with people gives me the sh!ts sometimes :)

  9. Based on that test (and trying not to mess with it) I also get INTJ (so much for it being one of the rarest personality types). Of course my scores are very different:

    Introvert(33%) iNtuitive(75%) iNtuitive Thinking(75%) Judging(1%)
You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (33%)
You have distinctive preference of Intuition over Sensing (75%)
You have distinctive preference of Thinking over Feeling (75%)
You have marginal or no preference of Judging over Perceiving (1%)

  10. I also got natural science or natural science education - which is close enough to what I do.

Don't think there's a category for unnatural science .

  11. So while the INTJ type is rare among the general population it seems to be high among cat loving Internet trolls that also occasionally ride motorcycles.
I wonder if anyone would pay me for a study?

  12. I'm an ESFJ. I was surprised because I initially thought I was more introvert than extrovert.
