NSW Park in occupied metered spot

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' at netrider.net.au started by Vertical C, Aug 15, 2014.

  1. Hey all

I got pinged today for " Park in occupied metered space"

Apparently they believe that I parked there second.
Making use of available space because it reduces meter revenue is frowned upon. And they say that meter is just to increase parking availability. Anyway.....

Does anyone know the specific road rule that relates which might relate to this offence.

  2. You're looking for Road Rule 207-6

  3. DID you park there second? And do they have to prove it?
  4. Thanks justus, so only illegal because it was a metered spot.

Regarding whether I parked there first, the other vehicle changed whilst I was there, hence I may or may not have parked there first, depending on the timeline on the changing of vehicle and the ticket issuing.

$104 no points, doubt I will take it to court due to the relative risk of court costs versus benefit, not sure I have other options.
  5. I think, the question isn't were you there first, but did you pay at anytime?
  6. In NSW, a motorcyclist doesn't have to pay in a metered spot.
  7. Thanks for that, I was unaware of that fact.

What happens when two bikes park in the same metered spot?
  8. I'd like to see that written in the rules. I have been keeping away from town because of the parking problem. I have a mobility parking card but can't leave that on my bike, it would be gone in a flash.
  9. For parking, refer to RR207.
