Outrageous paint job

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' started by hornet, Aug 21, 2005.

  1. Back in the seventies we saw what was then and still is the most outrageous paint scheme on a race bike, and it was right here in this country.
Vaughan Coburn http://www.iomtt.com/results/rider.asp?Ride_id=3351 persuaded renowned commercial artist Alan Puckett to paint the fairings on his TZ Yamaha race bikes. Here's the result!

The right hand side of the bike had the same picture but a different pose! The first time Vaughan crashed the bike, he didn't repaint the scratches, he just put a band-aid over them!!! We never figured out if they made the bike go faster, but they sure raised the profile of racing at a time it was getting some TV exposure; it was reported that they were th emost photographed bikes in the country!!!
(For Sydney riders, Vaughan runs Midas in Campbelltown these days, and he may still have the bike so you might be able to see it in real life!!)

  2. Ah, mammaries!!!
  3. hornet600,

I think you will find that Alan Puckett painted the nudes without any encouragement from Vaughan, who only saw them to his astonishment I might add, when they were finished.

Furthermore the band aids were placed over the nipples at one meeting when the fairings were deemed offensive, not because of any crash.
  4. ^^ He has risen :?
  5. Story (a) or story (b)??? They're both good
I would of liked to see her arm stretched out, so it looked like she was holding him on.
  6. Should've changed his racing number to 69! :p
