  1. One of the legends of Computer and Human interaction has passed away, Doug Engelbart. He and the group at Stanford university pioneered many of the computer techniques we take for granted. The mouse, hyperlinks, video conferencing, WYSIWYG word processor, multi-window user interface, shared documents, shared database, documents with images & text, keyword search, instant messaging, synchronous collaboration, asynchronous collaboration.

  2. Wasn't he at Xerox Parc when he came up with the mouse?
  3. Engelbart was more of a Computer Scientist, Xerox Parc is probably the home of the first commercial mouse in the mide 70s. The first mouse was in Englebarts 1968 demonstration at Stanford.
