One for the Ducatisti

  1. It has been put about by certain scurrilous members of this forum that I don't like Ducatis. This is a gross error which I hope by this post to correct.

This is a pic of Paul Smart (yes the Paul Smart who was Barry Sheene's brother-in law, and father of BSB compeitor, Scott Smart) at the Imola 200 race in 1972. Smart featured in a wonderful 1-2 victory for Ducati aboard the then-new 750's

Now there is an Australian connection here too because, very soon after that famous victory, the 750 that finished 2nd in the hands of Bruno Spaggiari came to Australia and was raced here with great success for several years by the late, great, Kenny Blake.

The bike has since been sold and now resides, I believe, in the USA. Here is a picture of Ken astride the Ducati during a cold testing day at Calder Raceway late in 1972.

  2. Ducati's are awesome... what's not to like? Noisy, tempremental, uncomfortable, expensive.

On a serious note though.. they sound like a thunderstorm and look like a supermodel :D .
