On/off road tyres

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by fozzieb, May 12, 2016.

  1. Hi - I have a BMW R1200RT and am looking for advice on fitting on/off road tyres. Possible?

I loooove the RT but it's places like in the avatar pic that I enjoy. Was thinking about the GS but have to give up too many of the creature comforts so if I can do it with the right tyres then I'm a happy boy.
  2. Dunlop d606
  3. I recently researched 17" size tyres for off road use too. The 17" front limits your choice a fair bit.

    Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 (90/10)
Pirelli MT60RS (60/40), very soft compound though, you'd likely see only 5,000km use (if that).
Continental TKC 70 (I think their a 60/40), 17" front due qtr2 this year, so might not be available yet.
    Metzeler Tourance Next (90/10)
  4. Thanks BTK & BJ - leaning towards a TKC 80 up front and a Scorpion Trail or Dunlop 616. Bit of work still to do on this
