Old keys with microchips

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by zx9er, Nov 15, 2014.

  1. Gday,

I found 2 old keys for a bike I'd written off a year ago. They're the expensive ones with the chips in them. The bike's gone long ago, I don't suppose the keys can be reused can they? If not I'll just chuck them so I don't get them mixed up with current keys...

  2. Probably more trouble than their worth. They are already cut for a particular lock barrel. Most bikes with chipped keys have methods of introducing new keys to the ECU on a bike so if they hadn't been cut you could have introduced them to another bike of the same type,
  3. Yeah they're already cut. They're going on a mystical journey in the otto bin...
