Oil Cooler / Heat Exchanger

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by rubenastley, Oct 29, 2012.

  1. Hey guys, i've been having problems with coolant leaking into the oil (Daytona 675). At first i thought it was a head gasket but now i've been told that daytona's are regularly subject to oil cooler/heat exchanger failure. Is it possible that the oil cooler is faulty and started to leak coolant into the oil lubrication system? I was reading on some car forums so not sure if it applied to motorcycles, but they said that if it was indeed the oil cooler then oil would be leaking into the coolant system and not vice versa. Something to do with oil pressure being greater than coolant pressure?

Is there a easy way to test if the oil cooler is actually mixing the coolant with oil?

    Cheers Wilson
