Off to Finke

Discussion in 'The Pub' at netrider.net.au started by cruisingal, Jun 4, 2006.

  1. I'm off to Alice Springs at some ungodly hour in the morning to fly to Alice.

My husband is doing the Finke Desert Race again. He didn't get to finish last year cause he broke a bone in his back (this was just hours after his mate passed away there). So they are riding again in rememberance.

Unfortunately it's not going to be a holiday though. I was to meet up with my parents (and hubby who left on Friday) who are caravaning for six months, but my Mum collapsed at Ularu on Tuesday and is still in Alice hospital.

Don't know what's wrong (she had to be revived at Ularu) and all the specialists have been called in but can't find anything wrong. She gets a Sopressure in her head (so she can feel it coming) and then has some sort of 'turn'. Blood pressure sky rockets, she can't move, talk, gets trembles through the body etc. CT etc have all come back clear, so we will probably end up in Adelaide to see neurologists.

So I don't know whether I will get to see Andrew finish the race in one piece or not, everything is so up in the air.

So far, Alice Springs just does not conjure up good thoughts/feelings for me.

Sorry for the long post but I can't seem to relax enough to go to bed for a few hours sleep (I can sleep on the plane anyway).

    Lianne
