  3. the colours that rock produces is amazing
  4. Great pic nobby. Got a bigger version of it somewhere? Link?
  5. Used to buzz around it with tourists aboard, many many times, Goz ! Was a spectacular sight indeed, even in winter when watching the rain trickle down the sides of the big rock.

Not to take anything away from nobby's pic (one of the best pics of Ayers Rock that I've seen mate), The Olgas is also very breathtaking at certain times of the day/season. After finishing scenic flights with the tourists, I used to kid with the passengers when driving them back into their hotels (yes, we drove 19 seat buses, too!) that at a certain distance away from the airport, looking at The Olgas revealed an image of what appeared to be Homer Simpson, lying on his back, big belly, aimed at the skies !

Most used to LOVE that (raucous laughter aboard the bus) until I mentioned it to a bus-load of German tourists..they were NOT impressed, at all. You see, The Olgas was named such after Queen Olga, of Germany...doh !!! (literally).

Back on subject though, we used to also visit the sunset strip of an afternoon, where all the tourists would gather to view the spectacular sunsets, and of course we, as 'scenic drivers' would wander around, seeking more business/scenic flights for the next few days.
I distinctly remember one day, probably the BEST sunset of Ayers Rock I'd ever seen (VERY similar to your pic, nobby), when a 'Yank' came along and corrected many impressed onlookers/tourists, saying ' Oh okaaaay, this ain't a sunset...come back to Arizona, I say..we have the best sunsets around'.

Only thing that saved him from getting decked was his age...#$&%*^) !!!! Bloody Yanks...

    Awesome pic, nobby (y)
