  1. Hello fellow riders. Im Chris. i am happy to finally call myself a rider and hopefully after tomorrow a motorcycle owner. Going to pickup the bike tomorrow at the dealership. I have to admit i am scared shitless but excited at the same time. Any tips on what to look out for on the road as i haven't been on the open road? Cheers

  2. Welcome Chris,
So, new to riding ? Where / how did you get your L's ?
Were you comfortable on the bike, and looking toward to getting out on your own ?
Where are you riding from and how far are you going ?

The biggest thing with your first ride is to take it nice and easy, and not let anyone get you too flustered or you'll start to make mistakes.
Memorise the route you need to take so you don't have to think too much about which lane to be in or where you need to turn etc. so that you can plan lane changes and road postion well in advance.

  5. Thanks mate i will find out if i can do it tomorrow. Im getting a 2016 kawasaki ninja 300
  6. Welcome.

If you start getting flustered, just pull over when you can, and just sit comfortably on the bike, take some deep breaths and look at the traffic around you for awhile. I did that on my first "big ride" on the highway. Pulled into a bus stop and just sat for awhile (luckily no buses came along). Calmed down and went from scared to normal. I got to "read" the traffic for a bit, which was good.

  7. You'll be fine, having another rider along with you helps significantly with the nerves. Congratulations on the new bike and I recommend Saturday morning practice when you feel you are confident enough to get there. If you want an escort post up in that thread and someone will generally put up their hand.
