no riding for me

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by enzise, Jun 7, 2007.

  1. looks like i have broken my thumb, playing basketball. so guess riding or even driving my manual car for a little is out of the quetion. goin to see a hand specialist in the next couple of days so will find out more then. but hopefully wont be out that long, need to wokr and earn money lol.

anyway my spirits are high but my thumb is sore, any out there broken a thumb before, who long did it take to heal?

    :( :( :(

  2. you should stay away from dangerous hobbies like basketball

bit of bad luck hopefully it heals quickly for you :)
  3. yeah I stopped playing basketball at 41 due to sore knees! Bloody dangerous sport. But I did win the over 30's Grand Final, MDBA all the way
  4. I was thinking the same thing myself; I'm sure there are more injuries from netball and basketball that there are from motorcycling (yeah, I know there's more people play them...)
  5. The question is; Would you go back in time and never play basketball for the sake of being able to ride now ? ;)
  6. bugger man.....

dont know exactly how long it will take to heal but sounds like your out of it for a while... hopefully not to long anyway.

let i heal right and hopefully it will heal fast!
  7. Give it a couple of weeks and you should be fairly right. Depending on how bad the break is of course :p

Bad luck, but you should be on in no time.
  8. If they haven't put a cast on you arm you can strap your thumb with sports tape. As a sports trainer I do this often for Aussie rules players. Any half decent trainer would be able to strap it into any position you want, ie for riding, working, wanking what ever.
  9. Netball has the highest injury rate of any sport in Australia (Per head of players)
Most of the injurise are ankles and knees followed by broken fingers
  10. Add in the flus that boyfriends suffer from having to sit through another bloody game in the middle of winter on the off chance of a pash in the car after the game. They still call it a pash don't they?
  11. Are you sure? I was under the assumption that it was gayFL... sorry i mean AFL..
  12. Short skirts and singlet tops on fit athletic girls... i wouldn't call it suffering...
  13. Yep, been over 6 weeks and still on a walking stick

Having ultra sound next week and bone scan week after.....bloody netball, wasn't even going for a tackle

Forgot to add, it's my right foot though so can still drive and ride :)
  14. apparantly it is not a bad break, but the doctor i saw didnt seem very knowlegable. got referal to hand specialist so shuld know more soon. the doctor dropped the scary word of 'surgery' so im just hoping it wont have to go to that.

talking of netball and basketball i have played both, basketball for 4 years and netball for 1 game and i enjoy both sports lol.

gotta agree on this one though... :p  :p
  15. See now, Basketball, or all sports are just dangerous. You've never heard of anyone breaking a thumb reading have you?
  16. nope, but you can get a nasty paper cut if you're not careful
  17. suck it up and get back on.

"cant ride, i got a sore thumb" H.T.F.U.

    :p :p :p :p :p
