Ninja 650r derestricting?

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by danielpentz, Oct 14, 2011.

  1. Hi there

Just wondering what the restrictions are on a 2010 ninja 650r (er6f)
Is it anything that would require an ecu or is it just a throttle restriction and bridging wire?
I want to get one and if it doesn't require an ecu upgrade, de restrict it once I'm off LAMs.
    Any help would be great!

  2. Correct - Can supply details if required. But yes - No ECU mapping to worry about. Just a throttle stop and a bridge. Done

  4. Awesome guys, thank you heaps!
I reckon you will have yourself another 650 rider on here now!
  5. isn't there a problem with de-restricting the bike and keeping it legal?
  6. Not just illegal but your insurance will probably be null and void.
  7. yeh that was my thoughts, also not to mention TAC?? not sure about that one. But i think there is no legal way to derestrict a 650RL and make it a 650R even if you were to change the rego and you were on you full licence. that was my understanding (info from a bike store).
  8. errrr, if you are on lams, it IS illegal and your insurance WILL be null and void.
