New Wage Rise Fed Goverment - Do I get it ?

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by PJ2, Nov 25, 2006.

  1. I'm looking for somebody to out my mind at ease.

As you most proberbly know as of 1st December low income earners will get a wage rise of about $27 a month. I fall into this catorgory, but what I am wondering is I am 4 months into a new 2 year traineeship and on my contract my wage is specified as $11.50 or something.

So do I get the wage rise on not ?
  2. it dpends if your contract is an AWA, or just a regular conditions of employment type letter.

if it is an AWA, it will specify whether you are to receive cpi increases or other government based wage increases. but mostly they "skip" this part in order to save a buck or two ;)

i am on an AWA, just signed the other day actually and they SUCK!

    thanks Mr Howard
  3. Why sign it then?
  4. because Mr Howard removed our ability to "not" sign.

now lets keep this one on topic shall we?
  5. Thats news to me. Howard didnt remove my right not to sign mine & so I went on an individual agreement instead.
  6. well, then you signed an AWA.
this is an Australian Workplace Agreement.

they can be collective, or individual.

    eg. mine is called -

Australian Worplace Agreement: Joel Lastname - Works Infrastructure
    which is an individual agreement.
i guess my other option would be to not sign and not have employment, but then i'd have to give up my for-private-use work car

maybe you assumed i was talking about group enterprise bargaining....
  7. Yeh mate; & thanks for clearing it up for me.
