new tyre - 260 width

Discussion in 'Cruisers' at netrider.net.au started by peter-reebok, May 16, 2008.

  1. replaced the stock tyre today.
The stocker is wide - 240/40/18, but in typical OEM tyre fashion, the stock dunlop is average, but not great.
I did get 11000 klm out of it, but wet weather performance is below my expectations.

Had a 260/40/18 Metzler 880 put on it today, and the tyre is WAY better.
went for a quick 40klm ride through the hills to scrub it in, and when I got home, found that I had worn up to about 1/2 inch from the edge of the tyre, with full confidence, and I was taking it easy as new tyres are not the grippiest!.
The profile is more round, and less square, so tips in easier. (subjective?)

I am really looking forward to giving it heaps in the hills.

FYI. used Pablos in Mulgrave (VIC) and was happy with service levels, he actually took care!.
