  1. Hi all,

I'm Nathan, and I think I've already met a number of you at the Saturday morning learner meetup in Elwood late March. I came down to brush up on my handling before the licence course that Sunday. I was the one on the black GS500F.

Since then I have gained my licence, purchased some wet weather gear and a ventura rack/bag and begun touring. This last week saw me go from:
    Melbourne to Albury,
Albury - Gundagai - Snowy Mountains Highway - Tumut - Gundagai - Canberra
    Canberra - Albury
    Albury - Finley - Melbourne.
The original plan was to go over the high country, but snow was forecast down to 1200m, so that plan was dumped in the interest of preserving my fingertips. I got rained on a few times, but never got wet thanks to my new Dririder pants, rain jacket and gloves. My gear all stayed dry thanks to my double-plastic bagging techniques.

All in all, despite freezing temperatures, I've never had more fun piling on the kms. My bike was turning 6000rpm most of the way, but it never missed a beat and I find myself looking for the next opportunity to get away already. I think the big has bitten hard.

It is another 11 months until I can upgrade, and despite thinking I wanted a naked for around town use, I really see myself going for a more distance-orientated bike. If you see me around, wave or nod, I'm a friendly guy.

See you all on the road.
  2. Welcome Nathan , looks like your clocking up some good miles already. Glad to see you've got the bug like the rest of us.
    Enjoy the ride...
