New bars & setting up switches / levers?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by mr_sikma, Feb 16, 2012.

  1. Hey,

Just got some new bars on my Z1000 and after fitting all my controls they just don't feel like before...

I guess I'll get used to them but was it a trial and error thing? I wanted to do it right and drill the holes but I don't want to re-drill them over and over?

  2. you should drill the holes. but don't **** it up.
otherwise you start again with another set of bars.
check lock to lock tank clearance, with the amount of pull back you want. the clutch lever sits lower than the brake. but then, personal preferences, whatever works for you. really need to ride it a few times first, make minor adjustments.
then loosely get everything in place where you want it to be. put some marker blue on the pins or raised nubs, whatever goes in the holes. a dab of wet paint will do the trick.
then start with a small pilot drill bit centre of that mark.
