OK, looks like I've got a window of opportunity in the first week of January, and I'm thinking of hooking up with a couple of mates and heading somewhere into the Aussie Alps, probably NSW side, for 2 or 3 days. It's been a long time since I've been up there, so I don't really remember how long it takes to cover various legs of the journey (and I had a more comfortable bike back then). So what I want to know is: - travelling at licence-preserving rate, how many hours to, say Corryong or Khancoban? Thinking of going via Yea, Mansfield, Whitfield and maybe the Murray River Road? - from say Khancoban, how many hours to do a loop around Thredbo, Jindabyne, Kiandra, Cabramurra and back to Khancoban or Corryong? - how long from Corryong to Omeo (via Omeo Highway), then up and over to Hotham and down to Bright? I'm wondering if in my advanced state of decrepitude this may not be a little ambitious nowadays. Plus, one of the other guys will most likely have a pillion. Any information gratefully received.
