MX vs Road boots

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by c0nan, Sep 18, 2008.

  1. I've been looking at safety gear, and wondering what the major differences between these would be. I imagine they'd have similar crush resistance properties, but the things I thought would be different are:

abrasion resistance - road boots would be built to slide better, the MX boots would likely catch, and the buckles would be destroyed + possibility of wrenching a knee or ankle

Walking; MX boots look like they'd be easier to walk in than full race boots (and better grip, though as with the above point, that may not be beneficial ...).

I'm asking mostly because I really like the look of MX boots comparatively, but am skeptical of their use for road riding. Would be interested to know of people's thoughts and any relevant experience :)
