Mould / Mildew

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by cygnus, Feb 7, 2010.

  1. Hi all,

Due to recent wet weather in Sydney, and my lack of ability to look after things, I now have a pair of gloves that have mildew all over them!

They're a pair of leather gloves, and they got completely soaked in the rain last Tuesday. I left them in the hallway to dry out. The area is not damp, but its a bit dark. It's now Saturday, and I just saw them. There are white mouldy spots all over the gloves on the outside, and thick labyrinth of white mildew-like fibres inside. The glove feels pretty stiff and hard too on the outside. I didn't try to put my hands in them.

So, I want to know ... how did this happen? Why did this happen? What can I do to prevent it next time, and what can I do about them now?
