Motorcycling is like golf?

  1. Blatently stolen from HFL http://hellforleather.com

Seems a bit weird at first, but makes sense when you read it.

  2. He's right, of course. They're right. They're illustrating a point by citing examples from other areas that people might be familiar with. The fact that the example doesn't immediately seem to be relevant adds to the impact. I like to compare riding well to playing a musical instrument. It takes practice. You're trying to execute the exact same set of control inputs just a little better each time. And there's art in it - poetry - music. Like he says, from the outside, people see danger and big eyes and white knuckles, but that's not what it's like. At least, not if you're doing it properly.
