Motorcycle Show Site Spaces and Sales Skyrocket

  1. Motorcycle Show Site Spaces and Sales Skyrocket

Australias premier trio of motorcycle showcase exhibitions are gaining momentum, with strong industry interest prompting organisers to increase available floor space in Sydney, Melbourne and on the Gold Coast.

Exceeding expected demand, all three shows are approaching site sales of 70% just weeks after being released to the industry, a figure that is predicted to rise in the coming weeks.

"The support from the motorcycling industry as a whole has been overwhelming and all three events are set to grow as a result," said Mark Petersen of Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF).

"While Melbourne and Sydney return to the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and Sydney Showgrounds respectively, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will now host the Queensland event for the first time, and were excited about the buzz that this bold new direction has created."

The Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne (30 October-2 November, Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre) is the first event for 2008, and organisers have added an additional 500sqm of space for exhibitors, taking the total to 14,000sqm of exhibition space along with an additional 1500sqm of indoor active demonstration area.

The Sydney Motorcycle Show (21-23 November, Sydney Olympic Park) is the next event on the calendar, and this year an additional 1200sqm of exhibitor floor space has been confirmed, making the upcoming show the largest ever seen in New South Wales.

The final instalment will be held on the Gold Coast for the first time ever, with organisers combining the Australian Motorcycle Expo with two new supporting events, the Australian Personal Watercraft (PWC) Show and Australian Scooter Festival from 20-22 February 2009.

ETF has booked every available space at the entire Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and will make use of the new northern extensions which is set for completion later this year. This doubles the current exhibitor space available, which extends to displays within the foyer, terraces and outdoors.

To promote the growth of the events, ETF recently kicked off an extensive cross-media advertising campaign set to reach audiences nationwide. To supplement the campaign, a number of displays will be set up at significant industry events in the leadup to each show, including the Sydney Motor Show and Phillip Island MotoGP.

QBE Insurance returns as the major presenting sponsor for each show, strengthening a valuable partnership which has enjoyed a number of successful years.

"Were delighted to have QBE Insurance on board again, the organisation has been incredibly supportive of our expansion plans," said Petersen.

The events showcase an extensive range of the latest local and international motorcycle, scooter and ATV models to hit the market, as well as accessories, apparel, trade magazines, rider training services and much more.

The Gold Coast event will also feature a complete range of PWC models from all major manufacturers.
