Motorcycle Legends at Formula 1 GP

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' at netrider.net.au started by Mouth, Mar 22, 2010.

  1. "Three of the biggest names in the history of Australian motorcycle racing will take to the Albert Park circuit in an 'Australian Motorcycle Legends' demonstration at the 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

The undisputed greatest Australian motorcyclist of all time, Mick Doohan, will be joined by Aussie greats Wayne Gardner and Daryl Beattie in a series of demonstration laps at the picturesque Albert Park Grand Prix circuit on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March, 2010.

Does anyone know anything more about this? How many other, if any, riders/bikes will be on the track? How many laps are they doing? What encompasses 'demonstration laps'? I'm just assuming they'll put on a mini-race for a few laps.

By a bit of good-luck and thanks to Vodafone, I have a couple of free tickets for this Sunday so will go along and take-in the atmosphere, and ensure we don't miss the bikes :)

They are on-track 16:05-16:15 on Saturday, and 15:40-16:00 on Sunday. (The F1GP race starts at 17:00)

  2. oh, do not mind a bit of F1, especially when just down the road and round the corner, but will be down at the island for round one of the IRRC.
    Go Team Preston!!!!
The demo laps at the GP, will be just that, a demonstration, definately no racing, but their machinery will be worth a look at and at the Vodaphone hospitality complex, you may be able to have a close up look at the bikes.
Wear white clothes. The Vodaphone set up has so much red .... acrylic, digital prints and laminates that glow and all sorts of other red materials and stuff. A white shirt will make you feel a bit more prepared and able to watch the racing and enjoy the atmosphere!!
