Went on a day trip in Melbourne's North East on the weekend. Here's a link to the Google Map (http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=208765219820990332531.0004ae75c83d68b4698a9&msa=0) and some pics (Reefton Spur, Toolangi State Forest, Myers Creek Rd - this post; Flowerdale Hotel & View from Kinglake towards Melbourne - second post) for whoever is interested. Started off in Croydon and headed straight to Warburton (I have done this via Olinda before, which is more enjoyable, but adds another 45 minutes). Short break on the river, then on to Reefton and Marysville. This is one of the best pieces of road within Victoria in mho. Got a bit of drizzle in the Spur, but road surface provided beautiful grip, so we didn't have to slow down a lot. Short break in Marysville for a warming cuppa, then on towards Alexandra. Just before we hit Alexandra, onto Whanregarwen Road. Fantastic high speed swerving low usage road, as an alternative to the main connection from Alexandra to Yea. On to Flowerdale with a late lunch (2 pm) at the Pub. Kitchen closes at 2 pm, so we only had the short menu for choice, but food was good and felt nice. Into Kinglake and having a look at the devastation the fire has caused, before heading over to Toolangi and down Myers Creek Rd to Healesville. From here along the back roads to Yarra Glen and back to Croydon.
