[Melb] "Dirty- Weekend" Ride Oct 8/9 (Postponed)

Discussion in 'VIC' at netrider.net.au started by FormerUser1, Sep 22, 2005.

  1. UPDATE:
Ride is postponed, Mt. Skene is too messy with the expected rain over the next few days and the last snow having left the top very boggy.

Don't really feel like shovelling the Stroms out of the mud...
Will try again once conditions have improved.

    Type of ride: Adventure/Enduro
    Level: Experienced only
    Max. number :6
    Roadbikes: For a practiced hand on a skinny-legged Airhead BM/ 850Guzzi or the like...yup.

Weather permitting (otherwise it'll be shifted to the following weekend)
The top of Mt. Skene can get a bit nasty, all bare-blown and the road erodes frequently on short notice. Nothing really bad, just don't want to take chances.

Sat/Sun ride via backroads and twisties-galore to Licola, then dirt over the top of Mt. Skene into Jamieson. O/N @ Jamieson Pub/ Merrijig Pub or, for something rustic, Jamieson Miners Cottages.

Next day a return run up Mt. Buller, then via dirt roads through the Pine Plantations towards Strathbogie, the steep climb up Mt. Wombat, down to Euroa.
Merton Rd. past the gorge and onto dirt to Ruffy, across on dirt to the Switzerland Ranges above Yea, twisties down to Seymour, a few km Hume, cutting east via Broadford/Strath Creek/Flowerdale into the Northern/ Eastern Suburbs.

Total about 650-750km, 200km dirt out of that. No bushbashing, but tricky riding. The rest are PRIME twisties. Great Vic-Alps scenery. Needed: Sleeping bag/ pillow cover....and CAMERA !!

  2. Conditions at Mt. Skene (Licola-Jamieson Rd.) are too rough (soggy) at the moment, ride is postponed until things firm up a bit.
  3. It's been 'hidden' on the events calendar. Let us know when you have a re-scheduled date and it we will 'reveal' it again on the calendar with new date :)
  4. Thanks mate :)
