(MELB) Closest trail rides

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' at netrider.net.au started by lilau3, Nov 30, 2007.

  1. I have recently moved to central Melbourne from overseas and am looking at getting a trail bike at the start of next year. Just wondering where the closest trail rides are, at a beginner/intermediate level.
    Any recommendations? Cheers.

  2. RIDE

wombat state forest would be close for u buddy
  3. Buy the right bike, Get the Maximum Rego and you can ride legally anywhere...except footpaths of course :p
  4. Kinda, you have to stick to existing tracks.

There is heaps of good riding near melb - east or west and you find heaps of nice forested hils chock o block with riding tracks...Labatouche is a popular spot, 1 hr east of melb along the princes hwy
  5. Marysville & Rubicon.....
  6. In National Parks, State Parks and other areas of public land, license and rec reg is a minimum.
If you're off defined tracks you're gone.
And no you wont get away
Fcuk it up for other riders and you will answer to them
  7. The cops now have KTM 450EXCs so as mentioned, no chance of getting away. They used to hook along pretty well on those old XR650s, so now I imagine they're quite quick.

Check out www.dirtbikeworld.net they run regular group rides. Dirt biking is not an activity you should do solo. Far too easy to get hurt or break down and be stuck in the middle of nowhere.
