QLD Licence rules modified

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' started by goz, Apr 3, 2009.

  1. THE Queensland government is currently implementing a range of new rules for learner and provisional riders. Under the new rules, Provisional riders will be required to display a ‘P’ plate at all times when riding, where previously it wasn’t mandatory. A zero tolerance will come into force for learner and provisional riders regarding alcohol concentration, currently regulations allow riders over 25 years to have a 0.05 per cent blood alcohol limit.

Power restrictions will also be brought into place restricting riders to motorcycles closely aligned to LAMS machines. Supervising pillion riders will also get the flick in order remove the risk to learner riders regarding balance and stability when learning to ride.

These changes will be phased in over an 18 month period as announced by the Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh.
