Leather Summer Jacket - A* GP-R vs Tech 1-R vs RS Taichi

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by Hobbsie, Aug 19, 2011.

  1. Sorry, this is a repost but the other thread appears to have bugged out when I edited it. I informed a mod.

I currently have an A* SMK jacket and track pants. They're great but the SMK doesn't have enough airflow to cut it in brissy summer. Therefore I'm after a leather summer jacket with heaps of perf. I'm happy to spend ~$500 for one that will last a few years.

After some research the three I'm looking at are:

    Alpinestars GP-R:
    Looks great
    Heaps of perf

    No race hump
Good CE bio armour but not as good as in the tech 1-r and GMX

    Alpinestars Tech 1-r:
    Looks even better
    Heaps of protection

Not sure about airflow.. less perf than the others

    RS Taichi GMX Motion:
    Reviews say its great quality
Heaps of protection, knox back protector comes standard
    heaps of perf

Can't try it on as nowhere in Brisbane sells them.

I'm keen for the RS Taichi, but I don't really want to buy a jacket online I can't try on first considering i've never seen anything from their brand in person. Therefore I'll probably go for the Tech 1-r if it has enough airflow and if not the GP-R.
