Large paved areas for practice?

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by Hypervisor, Jan 12, 2014.

  1. I've just moved to Sydney (Newtown) from down south and don't really know my way around the area. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any large paved areas that one can practice riding skills. I'm looking for something in the range of around 200ft x 200ft (60m x 60m) of fairly clean parking lot. Anyone got a spot they know of?

  2. Hi there!
You got the carpark area over by Sydney park.
Take a walk down Kings Street away from the city towards St Peters, go across the lights and it's the big park in your right.

Other than that not much else around that area
  3. Go to the free leaner sessions at Homebush. You'll find a thread on it.
Course is all set up and there are experienced riders there to help you. it's just the case of getting there.
If you need an "escort" post in that thread and someone might be able to ride there with you.
  4. Kingsford Smith Airport is shut down from 11pm until 6am. maybe if you ask nicely......

Cheers guys! I actually found a place. I'm looking more to do advanced rider techniques than M.O.S.T training (already passed that bad boy)

  6. 11pm to 6am?? Sh1t I thought it was the other way round....

No wonder it getting windy every 30 to 45 seconds on the long straight bits...

  8. When i lived in Enmore i used to see some riders practising at Enmore Tafe carpark. Unsure if that still happens though.
  9. Heffron park at Maroubra.
  10. When I used to live near Newtown I used to go to:

the carpark there (obviously not the netball courts) is empty most weekends - not so when there is some sport on.

    Much closer than Homebush

Not sure if that's enough space for you
  11. theres a fair sized carpark down the very end of clovelly Rd at the beach there. pretty deserted after dark except for the odd P plater enjoying the view with his girlfriend ;)
  12. ikea tempe carpark or port botany boat ramp, both a decent size.
both empty of an evening, not sure about 60m x 60m though.
