Ladies and Gents...

Discussion in 'Welcome Lounge' started by Zoobz, Jan 24, 2015.

  1. Ladies and Gents,

Hope you are all well. Just thought I'd do a short introduction...

    Name: Alex (Nickname: Zoobz)
    Location: St.Kilda
    Bike: 2011 Aprilia RS125 2T
    Licence: Learner
    Skill: 5/10

After 5 years of much deliberation, my friend and I decided it's now or never, for getting a motorbike. Sooo... we received our learner permit, should be on our P's in 1 month, fingers crossed.

Always been into bikes, just never ridden one. As an Aprilia RS250 not LAMB's approved, the next childhood choice for me was the RS125 (2-Stroke).

Skill level it not too bad. I have been riding (to Kinglake, Heaelsville, Around the Bay, Yarra Blvd, etc.) every chance we get. But hopefully in a couple more months I'll feel comfortable enough to do a group ride).

    See you guys soon.

  2. G'day, I've been riding on and off since overseeing the construction of the pyramids and I only rate my skill level at about 7, so you are doing well it seems. There is much to learn and you will, or at least should, spend your entire riding life learning.

  4. Welcome Alex. Enjoy
  5. hey Alex join one of the rides soon
just leave the ladies too me though
  6. Welcome mate!

I reckon you should not rate yourself yet - as not being ready for a group ride shows me you are far away from a 5.

But I'll give you a 5/10 for eagerness!

Seems you have had a ride to most of the popular destinations.
Keep it up, hope to see you on a group ride in the near future!
  10. Welcome to the forum.
  11. Thanks guys. I understand that the learning will never stop. .. haha. All good though, always happy to hear advice.

How to see you guys soon.
  12. Welcome to NR from Adelaide.
  13. Haha welcome ZoobzZoobz to reality check forum...enjoy your rides!
Brave to rate one's self -spesh on here!:)
Start at 1 and work your way up...I am at 1.0067/10 currently
    Tough but fair scoring system
I got the 0.0007 for dropping AND picking my bike Wasabi up very slickly in front of a cast of thousands (well it felt like that) at Bald Hill in the Nasho without blubbering.
Would've been a 0.001 except I picked the bike up the wrong way and had to stand there like a fwit until someone kind (?Damedi) came and put the kickstand down for me:banghead:

Look forward to hearing about you, your mate and the ape!;)

  14. LOL. Lets just change that skill level to "beginner"...and 5/10 for eagerness well...i'll take it.

Also, noticed that a lot of people mention the Saturday learner's rides. Are they referring to
[Saturday] Uncles EPIC after practise ride?
  15. Nope. Wrong state.

look under Ride and Event Announcements/ NSW/ Sydney Learner Sessions

The opening thread gives the rundown on location and what takes place. Subscribe to the thread and keep an eye out for posts Friday / Sat morning to verify if it will take place (almost never cancelled).

Starts at 13h00. Practice till 14h30 ish followed by a slow learner friendly group ride normally ending at the Windsor McD's. You don't have to go on the ride.

If you need someone to pick you up and escort you on the way to Homebush just request this on the thread and someone will be more than willing to assist.

Well worth the effort to go - you will meet many other riders going through the same learning process as you are, and get to practice your basic slow speed skills in a safe area with lots of guidance and coaching by Ozyoda and his team.
