KTM Kick-Start Issues

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by Lachlan M, Feb 3, 2013.

  1. Hello

A few years ago I bought my son a KTM 50sx (2005 model I think), and we've never had troubles until now.

My son's only 8 and often when he tried to kick start the bike, he wouldn't complete the whole kick, rather just hit the starter and not have the piston move inside

Now, as a result of that I think, the starter is 'disconnected' from the engine. You can still kick it all the way down, and feel some resistance, but it certaintly isn't having any effect on the engine.

How big an issue is this? Could I fix this at home?
