Kawasaki Z1000 ( older models )

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' at netrider.net.au started by mr_sikma, Jun 24, 2010.

  1. Hey,

Been looking at some of the 2003-4 Kawasaki Z1000s...

Currently riding a DRZ400E which i plan on keeping, but want a better suited road bike aswell!

So what are people's thought on these?

I was looking at 2002ish sportsbike 600s, like a GSXR600 or R6 but i might give them a miss until i have more to put towards a newer model and get a naked for a while instead.

    Thanks in advance

  2. A mate of mine bought one. They'll fairly sporty for a naked. The engine feels like an older sportsbike engine (which it is). Lots of go, mostly at the top end but enough through the rev range for most people.
Suspension is good enough until you get to the outer limits of the design brief where it gets a (little bit) bothered. You can upgrade it, of course.
They're just a little bit heavy.
The early ones are much better than the update model, BTW, but not as good as the brand new 2010 model.
  3. i think it has the same engine as the older zx9r's?

is there enough power in them as compared to a gsxr600?
  4. Oh yes. 120ps +.
  5. Z1000, power is not a problem
  6. so they are a good bike?

any known bad faults / problems with this model?
