Jump start a Yamaha XVS650a

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by cleric, Aug 19, 2010.

  1. Hey all,

Left my parking lights on and now have flat battery. Anyone know if its ok to jump start a Yamaha XVS650a from a 12 volt booster?
  2. Dunno about a 12 volt booster - whatever that is - but I've jump started my XVS650a using my mates scooter.
  3. had a look in my owners manual - not much help there I'm afraid -
    The specification section says -
  4. Yeah I read that too and was worried thats the only way to do it...
  5. Won't cause any problems.
Just hook the positive to the + battery & the negative to an engine bolt. (not - side of the battery)
  6. thanks all...started it last nite off the booster and all good...
  7. Find a hill.
  8. I ran the battery flat after filling with some dirty fuel ( I think). i HAVE A 2007 HONDA VT750C and jump started it from my car. DO NOT HAVE THE CAR ENGINE RUNNING!!!!!. Apparently jumping with the car engine running can do damage.
  9. Only if you also have the car in gear.
