Its a turbo charged 1 cyclinder 2 stroke yes?
Lets examine it:
The exhaust certainly looks like a 2-stroke exhaust with an expansion chamber (bulge) in it.
The head looks two stroke, because it doesn't look tall enough to have any valve gear in it.
So I'd say the engine is two stroke.
Only one spark plug, exhaust outlet etc, so only one cylinder.
Definitely looks like a turbo that the exhaust feeds into on one side and the carby feeds into on the other.
So yes, I'd say it is a turbo charged 1 cylinder 2 stroke.
Yes it is. It has been tried many, many times with varying degrees of success.
To be successful it needs to have reed valve (induction), thumping back-pressure from the expansion chamber, and even then the gain is minimal (in comparison to a 4 stroke gain) and over a very small rev range.
Why would someone bother, you ask? Because they can.
I reckon that it has been assembled for the photo.
